Open for Comment: Review of Council Representation - Discussion Paper

Published on Friday, 29 May 2026 at 10:30:00 AM

The Shire is reviewing the number of Elected Members that make our Council. Currently we have 9 Councillors – we are seeking community feedback on whether this should remain the same, or instead be reduced to 8, 7, 6 or 5 Councillors.

A Discussion Paper has been prepared to support this process. It outlines the available options, key considerations, and provides information to help residents make informed submissions. Community members are encouraged to review the Discussion Paper and have their say. The Discussion Paper includes:

  • An overview of the process with essential background information
  • Key factors for consideration
  • A range of possible representation scenarios, plus a summary of advantages and disadvantages for each option

Your feedback will play an important role in helping Council understand community preferences and inform future decisions. Further details, including the Discussion Paper, how to lodge a submission and deadlines, can be found on the Consultations page of the Shire website (refer to items listed as Open for Comment).
