The gym facility at the DRC is an ever-growing and developing space. It was refloored in 2023 and has been fitted with top-of-the-line equipment from Matrix Fitness ranging from modern cardio machines, to various resistance machines and free weights. We have everything you need to get the most out of your workout! Want to know the best part? You can upgrade your membership to access the gym 24/7 – meaning that at any time, you can make use of the following:

Meet Our Instructors
Jan, our gym instructor, has extensive experience in the fitness industry and is dedicated to helping you achieve your fitness goals. With a Cert. IV in Fitness and a background in personal training, Jan is passionate about guiding individuals to reach their full potential in a safe and supportive environment.
Our group fitness instructor Jewel has been a part of the DRC team since April 2023. She has a keen interest in fitness and personal training, with a particular love for strength and stability training. Jewel’s bootcamp classes combine high intensity exercise with functional movements that will leave you feeling strong and empowered.
Sophie is our newest instructor, and since starting at the DRC she has brought incredible energy and enthusiasm to a variety of programs at the Centre. She’s already made a big impact through her work with the Homeschool Sports Program, swim school, and group fitness sessions, and is now running aquarobics classes at the Centre with her fresh and engaging approach.
Group Fitness Classes

From cardio to strength training, we've got something for everyone - check out the schedule below and unleash your potential with us. Plus, with Creche available at the same time, you'll know that the kids are covered!

Monday @ 9:00am - 10:00am
Get into a more traditional bootcamp workout with a session focusing on agility and strength. that also incorporates partnered boxing! You'll then be finishing with a killer core burner.
Tuesday @ 9:00am - 10:00am
Focus on muscle activation and more traditional strength exercises. This class will leave you feeling strong and accomplished!
Thursday @ 9:30am - 10:30am
This is a muscular endurance-based session with a pilates/cardio fused workout. Get a full body burn whist getting your heart rate up!

Supervised Gym
Are you new to the gym or looking to enhance your current workout routine? Our Supervised Gym Sessions might be just what you need! These sessions are designed to help you get the most out of your gym experience, whether you're trying new exercises, learning how to use equipment correctly, or setting new fitness goals.
Our fully qualified gym instructor, with over 10 years of experience, will be available to:
- Provide personalised exercise guidance tailored to your fitness level and goals.
- Demonstrate proper use of gym equipment to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Help you design a varied and challenging workout routine to keep you motivated and engaged.
- Offer tips and advice on fitness, nutrition, and overall well-being.
We understand the importance of fitting fitness into your busy schedule - there's no need to register either. That’s why our supervised gym sessions are scheduled to align with our Creche times, so you can work out while your children are safely cared for.
Supervised Gym Times:
- Tuesday: 9:00am - 11:00am
- Thursday: 9:00am - 11:00am
Strength for Life with Jan
Here at the DRC, we are happy to be able to provide the community with the Council on the Aging (COTA) program lovingly known as Strength for Life. These sessions are delivered by a trained and COTA certified instructor with the goals of improving wellbeing, enhancing quality of life, and having fun. Strength for Life is an individualised strength and balance exercise programme designed for people over 50 to get fit, stay strong, and improve their balance. The program is delivered by specially trained exercise physiologists, physiotherapists, and fitness professionals. Want to sign up? Here's how it works:
- Download the five (5) Strength for Life forms and fill them out. You can find them here: DRC Applications & Forms
- Obtain a Medical Clearance (GP referral). The referral should include a recommendation on which tier is most appropriate for you.
- If Tier 1 is recommended, the cost of the participant's assessment can be included in an extended primary care plan.
- Individual Needs Assessment with Jan.
- Bring your completed forms and referral to the DRC, where we will arrange for you to meet with Jan, our SFL instructor, who will assist in your individual needs and explain the exercise program.
- Start Exercising! Join like-minded people in the Strength for Life group and start improving your strength, balance, and wellbeing.
Strength for Life takes place from 8:00am - 9:00am on the following days, with the following programs:
- Monday: SFL Mini Bands
- Wednesday: SFL Balance
- Friday: SFL Gym Stick
More about Strength for Life (SFL):
Being in a group setting, you can enjoy working towards your goals with like-minded people in a fun and friendly group environment! Plus, the benefits of staying fit and active include improved balance, enhanced cardiovacular fitness, increased leg muscle strength, and of course better overall wellbeing. Additionally, the tailored exercise plans can help you manage any chronic illnesses you may be experiencing.
- SFL Balance is a class focused on balance and strength using light weights, fitness bands and stability exercises.
- SFL Gym Stick is a class that using the Gym Stick resistance bands to concentrate on a full-body strength workout. This is great for building and maintaining core strength, which is important for injury prevention.
