Dog Registrations

This information applies to all dog registrations, whether you have a new 4-legged friend or transferring from a different local government.

All dogs over the age of three (3) months must be registered. Registrations are renewed from 1 November annually, with registration period available for one (1) year, three (3) years, or the lifetime of the dog.


Registration Requirements

Before registering your dog, please take some time to review the following requirements to ensure that you have everything you need.

  • Microchip documentation is mandatory – without it, we cannot process your registration.
  • If your dog is sterilised, Proof of Sterilisation is mandatory.
  • A Statutory Declaration is mandatory for the following - click here to see the form published by the state government
    • If your dog is a working dog (for agricultural or industrial purposes)
    • If your dog is classified as a dangerous dog, which includes restricted breeds, dogs declared dangerous, and commercial security dogs
  • If you would like to register your dog with concession, a valid Pensioner Concession Card must be shown when making your submission.
  • All areas of the Dog Registration Form must be completed, which includes providing an Emergency Contact.
  • If there are any changes to particular details contained in your dog registration (including sale of the animal, change of ownership, death, or becoming sterilised) you must inform the Shire Administration Office within 7 days so that your file can be updated.
