Published on Wednesday, 9 September 2026 at 9:00:00 AM

The Economic Development and Tourism Strategy will provide long-term direction to support sustainable economic growth, attract investment, and strengthen tourism across the district.

Consultation Close: 4pm, Wednesday 30 September 2026

The preparation of this Strategy has been informed by economic analysis, background research, and consultation with local businesses, community organisations, tourism operators and other key stakeholders. It identifies opportunities to build on the district's strengths, support local businesses, attract investment, grow tourism, and enhance the Shire as a place to live, work and visit. Key focus areas include:

  • Tourism experiences and accommodation
  • Housing supply and diversity
  • Agriculture, and product development
  • Retail and town centre activation
  • Visitor experience improvements

Council is now inviting public comment on the draft Strategy before it is finalised and presented for adoption. This is your opportunity to review the draft document and provide feedback on its proposed priorities and actions.

Further details, including the Discussion Paper, how to lodge a submission and deadlines, can be found on the Consultations page of the Shire website (refer to items listed as Open for Comment).
