Irishtown Road Bridge Reopening on Thursday 10 April 2025

It’s official: the Irishtown Road Bridge will be reopened to traffic from 12:00pm tomorrow (Thursday 10 April 2025).

Over the last days of the school term, Thursday 10 and Friday 11, the school bus service will continue to operate under the current arrangements of picking students up at the Donnybrook Arboretum on South West Highway. The service will return to its original route and schedule when school starts again in term 2, from Monday 28 April.

The sea container for bike storage will remain in place for students to use on these days, however we ask everyone to please ensure that no items or personal belongings are left behind as it will be removed shortly after this time.

The Council and Shire staff extend a warm thank you to the community for the patience and cooperation shown since the bridge was initially closed in October last year. We are also grateful to the various agencies involved in the response to the emergency, and the contractor for completing the works in record time. It’s been a busy six months, but we are all very proud of the generosity, support and overall positive spirit shown by everyone during this time.
