EV Charging Update – Donnybrook & Balingup

Published on Thursday, 23 April 2026 at 2:30:00 PM

We know many people are keen to see EV charging available again in Donnybrook, so here’s the latest update on both local projects.

Donnybrook EV Chargers

The Donnybrook chargers have been out of service since July last year following storm damage. Replacement works are underway, with several key milestones now achieved:

  • Installation contractor engaged
  • Project and associated works approved by the Minister

The project was initially tracking for completion in late April to mid‑May. However, the supplier is currently awaiting confirmation of state funding from the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification, which has resulted in a delay of approximately two months.

What the Shire is doing: We have provided a letter of support for the funding, requested escalation of the project, and emphasised the importance of this infrastructure to our community.

Updated timeframe: If there are no further interruptions, the chargers are now expected to be operational around June-July.

We’re just as eager as the community to see the site back up and running and have everything in place to proceed. At this stage, we are awaiting the remaining approvals, which are outside the Shire’s control.

Balingup EV Charging Site

Planning continues for a new EV charging station in Balingup. A preferred supplier has been engaged, and a site selected, noting options were limited due to the availability of suitable power supply.

Timeline: Implementation is expected to commence between July and September 2026, subject to funding availability.

Thank you for your patience and interest. The Shire will continue to share updates as milestones are reached and remains committed to delivering reliable, sustainable infrastructure for our region.
