From September, Old Stables will host Ink & Thread, a travelling exhibition bringing together printmaking, artist books, textiles and stories of community, place and connection.
The project will feature the work and creative processes of artists Francesco Geronazzo and Julie Barratt, with support from DADAA, an organisation committed to creating opportunities for people with disability to participate in and experience the arts.
The exhibition provides an opportunity for our local community to engage not only with finished artworks, but also with the ideas, processes and conversations behind them.

We are very excited to welcome the Ink & Thread travelling exhibition to Old Stables — a project that brings together printmaking, textiles, artist books, storytelling and community connection.
It will be a lovely opportunity to come together, meet fellow artists and makers, experience the exhibition and celebrate the creative energy that makes the Donnybrook Balingup region such a special place.
Monoprinting Workshop with Francesco Geronazzo
Saturday, 5 September | 2:00–4:00pm
Italian printmaker and educator Francesco Geronazzo will facilitate a hands-on monoprinting workshop inspired by processes he has has explored with communities in the northern Wheatbelt around the Carnamah area.
Monoprinting is a wonderfully accessible and experimental printmaking process where every print is unique. Sitting somewhere between painting, drawing and traditional printmaking, participants can explore layers, textures, transparency, spontaneity and unexpected results. It is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, experiment and simply enjoy the creative process!
Finissage & Additional Workshop
Saturday, 3 October
The exhibition will conclude with a finissage on Saturday, 3 October 2026, providing another opportunity for our community to come together before the exhibition closes.
A further workshop will also be held on the day, continuing the exploration of printmaking and creative processes.

For us, this project is about more than an exhibition. It is about creating a space where our regional community can come together, meet artists, experience new creative processes and celebrate the artistic endeavours happening across our beautiful region.
We are very grateful to Francesco, Julie and DADAA for being part of this project and are looking forward to welcoming the community to Old Stables for what we hope will be a meaningful and inspiring celebration of art, process and connection.
