The Shire of Donnybrook Balingup is continuing its commitment to creating a safe environment for all road users by installing courtesy speed display signs on roads around the Apple Fun Park following a recent speed zoning change in the area.

In recent years, concerns have been raised regarding the speed zoning of the streets surrounding the Apple Fun Park in Donnybrook. As a result of Council’s proposal to Main Roads WA (MRWA) in support of this initiative earlier this year and further advocacy efforts, we are pleased to share that the speed limit has officially changed* from 50km/h to 40km/h for Reserve Street and Collins Street next to the Apple Fun Park in Donnybrook.

The Shire is continuing its commitment to creating a safe environment for all road users by installing courtesy speed display signs at this location, on loan from WALGA’s RoadWise, in the coming weeks to assist drivers with this change.

The new 40km/h speed limit applies to the areas of Reserve Street (1) and Collins Street (2) as marked on this map, which where these display signs will also be located. Other key landmarks are also highlighted for reference.

  1. Reserve Street – new 40km/h speed limit applies to the length of Reserve Street (1) that starts at the South Western Highway and intersects with Collins Street, between the Apple Fun Park (3) and the main entrance of the Pump Track (4)

Note: Does not include the portion of Reserve Street that continues beyond the Pump Track (4) towards the Donnybrook Transit Park

  1. Collins Street – new 40km/h speed limit applies to the length of road from the intersection with Reserve Street immediately next to the Apple Fun Park (3) and opposite the Pump Track (4), continuing approximately 350m south, ending near Park Donnybrook (5) and before Bentley Street
  2. The Apple Fun Park
  3. The Pump Track & Egan Park (towards the Donnybrook Transit Park, Men’s Shed, Community Garden, etc.)
  4. Park Donnybrook (Station Square & the Goods Shed)
  5. Donnybrook District High School (DDHS) & the Donnybrook Community Library (Corner Marmion Street & Emerald Street)

By recording the speed of approaching vehicles, displaying the recorded speed, and informing the driver if they need to change their driving behaviour (using a ‘thank you’ or ‘slow down’ message), the courtesy speed display signs serve as an immediate reminder for drivers to slow down.

Be aware of your own speed when travelling on our roads. Slow down, enjoy the ride in our Shire.
