Switch Your Thinking is currently working with 74 local governments and community resource centres across WA, including the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup, to make energy education more accessible through the Energy Efficiency Pilot Program (EEPP). On offer:

  • Free home energy audit kits (to loan)
  • Free community workshops
  • Practical, easy-to-understand energy advice

Free DIY Home Energy Audit Kits

Take control of your home’s energy use with a hands-on audit kit, available to borrow from Donnybrook Library. Each kit includes:

  • Thermal imaging camera: Detect draughts, insulation gaps, fridge seal leaks, and check hot water temperature
  • Plug-in energy monitor: Measure how much energy your appliances use (and what they cost to run)
  • Basin flow measuring cup: Check your tap water flow rate
  • Thermometer: Measure room, fridge, and freezer temperatures
  • Instruction manual: Step-by-step guidance, safety info, and tips to reduce energy and water use
  • ‘My Efficient Electric Home Handbook’ by Tim Forcey: Packed with practical advice on improving efficiency and reducing reliance on artificial heating and cooling
  • Thermal imaging guidebook: Tailored for home-building insights
  • Local resources: Many kits include information specific to your area

What is the Energy Efficiency Pilot Program (EEPP)?

In early 2025, Switch Your Thinking partnered with the Western Australian Government to deliver the Energy Efficiency Pilot Program (EEPP). The program aims to support residents and small-to-medium businesses to:

  • Build energy literacy
  • Take practical steps to improve energy efficiency
  • Reduce energy use through simple, achievable actions
