This International Women’s Day, we’re inviting all women of the Donnybrook Balingup Shire to come and experience what it feels like to be a volunteer firefighter.
There is no pressure to join. No expectations. Just opportunity.
If you’ve ever wondered, “Do I have what it takes?”
If you’ve ever thought you were too old, too young, not fit enough, or not brave enough… this event is for you.
Throughout the day we’ll be running hands-on drills in a safe and controlled environment (no live fire). You’ll have the chance to:
🚒 Run out hoses into nearby bushland
🚒 Learn how to correctly roll and pack away fire hoses
🚒 Practice burnover procedures
🚒 Use radios and learn communication protocols
🚒 Get in and out of full firefighting gear
🚒 Experience what it feels like to serve your community in emergency services
We’ll also host an honest Q&A session with some of the most inspiring women in emergency services. They’ll speak openly about balancing work, family, volunteering, and life, giving you a real picture of what’s involved.
Not sure frontline firefighting is for you? That’s okay. There are many ways to support your local bushfire brigade without the pressure of active fire response. We’ll talk about those too.
We’ll also cover home bushfire safety and run a virtual reality bushfire scenario to build your knowledge and confidence along the way.
Bring your friends. Bring your family.
Come curious. Leave empowered.
We would love to meet you. 🔥💪
