Permanent Part-Time (33 to 38.5 hours per fortnight)
Why this role matters
This is important role within the Shire. You will be responsible for accurately maintaining the property and rating database in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995, Valuation of Land Act 1978, Mining Act 1978 and the Rates and Charges (Rebates and Deferment) Act 1992.

What you’ll be doing:

Support the administration of Council’s rates and service charges, ensuring accurate records and compliance with relevant requirements.

Assist with debt recovery and revenue management, including monitoring accounts and supporting continuous improvement of processes.

Maintain accurate rating, property and revenue information within Council’s systems.

Provide professional and timely customer service to ratepayers and other stakeholders.

Provide day-to-day operational support to the Rates Officer across rating and revenue functions.

Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.

Provide back-up support to Customer Service when required.

Assist with the provision of information for internal and external audits.
What we're looking for
-
Experience in revenue, accounts, finance administration or a similar transactional environment.

Strong customer service and communication skills, with a professional and helpful approach.

Good numeracy, attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines.

Confidence using computerised systems and Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new systems.

Experience in accounts receivable, debtor management or revenue administration would be advantageous.

Local government or rates experience is desirable but not essential, as training and support will be provided.

Flexibility to increase working hours as and when required.
You will need to have a current Police Check, valid within 3 months and must be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical check.
