A Yarning Circle is an ancient Indigenous practise - a place to gather, share a yarn, educate, celebrate, and collaborate. This new Yarning Circle will benefit students at the school and the wider community, providing the perfect place to gather for special times such as NAIDOC week.
The Shire was delighted to contribute towards this project, thanks to grants from Perkins Builders and Talison Lithium. An interview was done with Wendy Mountford who spearheaded the project as the Aboriginal Education Advisor (DDHS) along with Telecia O’Dine, a Noongar/Yamatji woman and educator (DDHS), and the audio is available below for you to listen to:
