Minninup Cottages - Practical Completion Achieved

Published on Thursday, 7 December 2023 at 8:00:00 AM

As of Friday 17 November 2023, the contractor completing the works for the Minninup Cottages achieved practical completion.

As of this date, there are only minor defects and omissions, and landscaping works to be done.

Over Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 November, we started moving the residents back into their homes. We are very grateful for the patience shown to our staff and partners as we made this happen, particularly during the 35-degree heat.

Ross (Rosco) Marshall, Director Operations, has said:

“I am very grateful to the hard work and dedication shown by all parties involved in these works, particularly to the Shire’s Community Housing Officer and Project Manager. We are very pleased with the results, as are the residents, and look forward to finishing off the space with suitable landscaping and garden works.”

Vivienne MacCarthy, Shire President, has said:

“The residents of Minninup Cottage have been incredibly patient and understanding during the refurbishment of their homes. After living in temporary accommodation for over six months, they were relieved to return to their beautiful new homes.  It’s wonderful to know that this secure and affordable housing option is available to support our aged community members for many years to come.”

The Shire also acknowledges the WA Department of Communities for the SHERP (Social Housing Economic Recovery Package) funding. We are very proud to have successfully refurbished the Minninup Cottages, and look forward to continuing on to do the same at Langley Villas (anticipated for completion late 2024).
