Waste Management Facilities

There are two waste management facilities within the Shire: the Donnybrook Waste Management Facility located on Goodwood Road and the Balingup Waste Transfer Station located on South Western Highway.  Both facilities are operated by Hastie Waste whom can be contacted during office hours on 9731 0296.

Ratepayers are issued with a ‘Waste Management Facilities Pass’ with their annual rate notice.  You must present your valid tip pass upon arrival otherwise disposal fees will apply.  For those of you whom are renting within the Shire please speak to your landlord or property manager about obtaining a tip pass.

Note that these sites are closed on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday.

 Patrons must take direction from the Site Attendant at all times.

  • A valid Shire ‘2021/2022 TIP PASS’ must be produced for domestic waste disposal or commercial disposal fees will apply.
  • All waste types must be sorted or disposal fees may apply.
  • The decision of the Site Attendant in determining the required charge is final.
  • Asbestos must be double wrapped in thick black plastic, sealed, and clearly labelled ‘ASBESTOS’ - please contact Hastie Waste prior to disposal to arrange delivery times Ph: 08 9731 0296.
  • Smoking & lighting of fires is strictly prohibited.
  • Foot protection must be worn.
  • Scavenging is not permitted.
  • Children and pets to remain in vehicles at all times. 


Items must be placed in the designated locations / containers

  • PLASTIC BOTTLES & CONTAINERS WITH SYMBOL 1 TO 6 (please rinse the bottle and remove the caps)
  • STEEL TINS AND CANS (please rinse)
  • EMPTY CHEMICAL DRUMS & CONTAINERS - subject to DrumMuster requirements

*subject to acceptance by Site Attendant

  • Explosive Devices 

As a result of a recent inspection undertaken by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), the Shire has been instructed NOT to receive the following additional items at its waste facilities*:

  • Treated timber
  • Household paint
  • Paint thinners
  • Gas bottles
  • Fire extinguishers
  • E-waste

*The DWER has advised that to accept these items for disposal going forward, the Shire must obtain special approval. The Shire is currently liaising with DWER to find a timely solution, such as amending our licence so we can receive these items at our waste facilities. We understand this will cause inconvenience for some residents, so be assured we are working to resolve the issue and will publish updates as they occur.
