Local Heritage Framework Review
Following recent community information sessions regarding the review of the Shire's Local Heritage Framework, the Shire is now calling for public nomination(s) of heritage places from the community!
A heritage place may include buildings, structures, gardens, cemeteries, memorials and/or archaeological sites.
To assist you in the nomination process, a preliminary draft list of places has been compiled from the previous 1995 record of places as well as the from the 2013 record of places. For your reference, a copy of each of these records can be found below under ‘Relevant Resources’.
To view the preliminary draft list, click the link below:
Preliminary Draft List of Places - August 2022
The Shire is kindly asking:
- If you have any information, photographs, details, etc. regarding places on this preliminary draft list, please send it through for review; and/or
- If a place is not on this list and you feel should be, please nominate it!
Please note that this preliminary draft list is not necessarily a reflection of the final Local Heritage Survey, it is simply a starting point for our consultant, and the community, to work from. As you can see, there are over 200 places that will need to be reviewed!
Should you wish to nominate a place that is of heritage value to the community, please complete the following form and return to the Shire by Friday 14th October 2022.
Place Nomination Form
You are more than welcome to nominate more than one place, however please use a separate nomination form for each place.

Local Planning Framework Review
The Shire has commenced a review of the Local Planning Framework including;
Public consultation regarding this Project is expected to commence towards the end of 2022 / early 2023. In preparation for this future consultation, a preliminary engagement survey was published from 10 December 2021 to 7 February 2022 for community participation.
The key purpose of the engagement survey was;
- to translate broad themes from the Strategic Community Plan (Council Plan) into actionable objectives within the context of the Planning framework;
- to find out how the community would like to be engaged with during the consultation stage of the project; and
- to establish a mailing list of all community members that are directly interested in the review project.
There were a total of 21 questions within the survey and a total of 184 participants.
A summary of the survey results was presented to Council at the Ordinary Meeting in March 2022 (Item 9.1.3).
A copy of the minutes outlining the survey results can be viewed here.
To view full details regarding the Project, please visit the Project page here.
