Changes to Waste Types NOT Accepted at Shire Waste Management Facilities

As a result of a recent inspection undertaken by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), the Shire has been instructed NOT to receive the following additional items at its waste facilities:

Treated timber
Household paint
Paint thinners
Gas bottles
Fire extinguishers
E-waste

The DWER has advised that to accept these items for disposal going forward, the Shire must obtain special approval. The Shire is currently liaising with DWER to find a timely solution, such as amending our licence so we can receive these items at our waste facilities.

In the meantime, the closest facility for disposing of such items is the Cleanaway facility on Banksia Road, Dardanup. We understand this will cause inconvenience for some residents, so be assured we are working to resolve the issue and will publish updates as they occur.
