Donnybrook Balingup Standpipes

The Shire of Donnybrook Balingup has 2 fixed standpipes, from which bulk Water Corporation drinking water can be purchased.

These standpipes are located in the Donnybrook and Balingup Townsites as shown below:

Fixed standpipes like these provide an essential water source for people in remote communities who are further away from reticulated water schemes, and may otherwise have limited or no water for household purposes, firefighting, or to supplement water for stock.

Both of our standpipes are accessible using a swipe card, which can be obtained from the Shire Administration Office (1 Bentley Street, Donnybrook, 6239). Alternatively, they can also be accessed via a pay-as-you-go system, using PayPal, by scanning a QR code that is located on the standpipe. This method provides you with prompts to go through each step of this process. However, swipe cards are the best option for regular use, as they require pre-funding and will still work if the QR code is having issues. Please note that only commercial businesses can apply for an account option.

What are the fees for the standpipes?

At the Special Council Meeting held on 30 August 2023, the new rates for the standpipes were adopted. They are as follows:

Donnybrook Standpipe: $7.86 per kilolitre
Balingup Standpipe: $11.38 per kilolitre

The different rates between our Shire standpipes are due to how Water Corporation apply their fees and charges for water taken from fixed regional standpipes. Additional information can be found via the PDF linked below. Please note that Donnybrook is classified as a Step 8 town, and Balingup is classified as a Step 15 town.

Please note there is no technical support available outside of office hours, on weekends, and/or on public holidays.
