Governance – Roles and Responsibilities of Committee Members

This workshop assists you to understand your role and responsibilities as a Board/Committee Member of an organisation.  The workshop will cover:

  • Key issues and benefits of good governance
  • Governance vs Management
  • An overview of the responsibilities of a Board or Committee member
  • An overview of the importance of duty of care and risk management practices
  • Self-evaluation, succession planning and recruitment ideas

This workshop is particularly appropriate for people already sitting on a Board or management committee, or thinking of undertaking this duty in the near future.

3Rs of Volunteer Engagement

This workshop will explore volunteers’ needs and motivations to be part of your organisation, by breaking down the 3Rs of Volunteer Engagement - RECRUITMENT, RETENTION AND RECOGNITION. We will review what works in getting more people involved in community organisations and activities and discuss successful retention strategies.

An essential workshop for community groups to find out how to incorporate the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement into developing or changing their volunteer recruitment and retention systems.

Risk Management

An essential workshop looking at Risk Management and Safety in the workplace.   This training will be beneficial for Volunteer Managers and Coordinators to ensure their staff and volunteers carry out duties safely and effectively.   Gain an understanding of the basics of Risk Management, identifying hazards and implementing control measures through a step by step process.

Event Management

There are certain legislative requirements that apply to events, towards protecting public health & safety and the environment. Local governments have a responsibility to assess events and ensure required approvals and arrangements are in place.

This workshop will look at the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup event approval processes and discuss smaller and larger public events.

Included will be discussion on the current COVID Event planning requirements.
