Waste Management Facilities

There are two waste management facilities within the Shire: the Donnybrook Waste Management Facility located on Goodwood Road and the Balingup Waste Transfer Station located on South Western Highway.  Both facilities are operated by Hastie Waste whom can be contacted during office hours on 9731 0296.

Ratepayers are issued with a ‘Waste Management Facilities Pass’ with their annual rate notice.  You must present your valid tip pass upon arrival otherwise disposal fees will apply.  For those of you whom are renting within the Shire please speak to your landlord or property manager about obtaining a tip pass.

Note that these sites are closed on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday.

Domestic quantities (less than 0.5m3) of asbestos cement sheeting can be disposed of at the Donnybrook Waste Management Facility subject to payment of the disposal fee. Asbestos cement sheeting must be double wrapped in heavy duty plastic. Friable, poorly wrapped, or commercial quantities will not be accepted.

Clean Fill

Clean fill is accepted at the Donnybrook Waste Management Facility in most cases without charge.

Recycling and reuse section

Free recycling drop off areas are present at the facilities where residents can drop off a variety of materials for recycling such as:

  • Scrap metals
  • Steel cans
  • Aluminium cans
  • Mixed plastics
  • Dry cardboard and paper
  • Glass bottles and jars

Household hazardous waste

Residents have free access to drop off household hazardous waste excluding asbestos cement.

Household hazardous waste can pose serious environmental and personal health risks if not disposed of properly. Please dispose of the following items at the household hazardous waste area only:

  • Paints
  • Pesticides
  • Herbicides
  • Household cleaners
  • Motor oil
  • Pool chemicals
  • Car batteries & Household batteries
  • Fluorescent tubes/lamps – No commercial quantities accepted
  • Electronic waste i.e. televisions, computers and accessories, household electrical appliances.

Please note: 20kg/ltr limits apply. No containers over 20kg/ltrs will be accepted.
