In January this year, the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup invited ratepayers and residents to complete Community Perception survey to help identify priorities and better meet community needs. Shire President explained “the study is an important step in planning for the future and an opportunity for the Community to have their say.” Last month staff and Councillors met with CATALYSE Pty Ltd, the independent research company who conducted the survey and were presented with the results. The Shire President acknowledges the exceptionally high survey response rate from the community and has given an undertaking that the Shire is committed to review and research those areas where we may have not met community expectations.
“The survey highlighted the Shire’s role in prioritising Playgrounds, Parks and Reserves, Safety and Security and Bushfire/Flooding Prevention. It also identified how local history and heritage is preserved and promoted, how the community is consulted about local issues, economic development and how open and transparent the Council processes are.”
Following the results of CATALYSE survey, Shire President Brian Piesse wished to draw attention to the recommendation from the Ordinary Council Meeting on 25 July 2018, where Council resolved to amend the adopted Agenda Briefing Session Guidelines to the extent that these forums are open to the public to observe. The Agenda Briefing Sessions are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 2pm in the Council Chambers, “these sessions are open to the public as observers and I encourage residents to attend and observe the process of the Agenda Briefing.” Those wishing to access the order of business for the Agenda Briefing sessions are advised they will be posted on the Shire website.
