Classic heroes on the big screen in Donnybrook

The first of the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup’s summer series of outdoor films was held under the stars on Sunday night at Donnybrook Amphitheatre.

Almost 500 locals and visitors to the region took advantage of one of the simple pleasures of summertime, and sat outdoors under the stars to watch the film. The weather was balmy, and as the sun set, clear skies ensured the stars provided a stunning canopy!

The picnic fare varied between gourmet takings complete with candles and serviettes . . . alongside the ever popular pizza! And it appears too that bean bags are becoming the ‘must have’ accessory for outdoor events.

Many in attendance watched this recent Marvel Studios’ block buster for the first time, and judging by the spontaneous laugher it was very well received.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.

With financial assistance from Lotterywest again this year, the Shire is able to host four free outdoor films! The next outdoor film is ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ on the Australia Day weekend – Sunday 27th January at Donnybrook Amphitheatre. Hunt for the Wilderpeople – Jan 2018
